China owns the largest capacity and output of yellow phosphorus in the world. However, overcapacity has emerged as an eminent problem in Chinese yellow phosphorus industry in recent years. For example, China’s yellow phosphorus capacity is about 2,335,000t/a in 2012, almost three times higher than the domestic demand, which is only about 800,000-900,000 tonnes every year.
